This project was born from a casual encounter between Lella Castello-Branco and Roberto Cerrato, President of San Giuseppe Cultural Centre in Alba, Italy.
The exhibition is site-specific and in partnership with the Portuguese sculptor Santos Lopes. For this exhibition they have collaborated to explore the eternal themes of life, death and what it is to be human.
Their powerful sculptures and 6 site-specific installations are situated in the magnificent 17th century church of San Giuseppe in Alba. The ambience of this historic and inspirational building lends itself perfectly to the themes of the exhibition. Through symbolism and themes of universal understanding the artists explore these questions and in turn take the viewer on a spiritual journey of self- exploration.
This is an insightful exhibition that provokes and challenges the viewer to contemplate the complex nature of one’s existence.
